Optimum Nutrition for the Mind Workshop

The London School, 15 Holland Park Gardens, London, W14 8DZ

Patrick Holford is a pioneer in new approaches to health and nutrition, specialising in the field of mental health. He is widely regarded as Britain’s best-selling author and leading spokesman on nutrition and mental health issues, hence being frequently quoted in national newspapers from the Daily Mail to the Guardian. Patrick is also popular on radio shows and national television as a presenter, interviewer and guest.

Patrick started his academic career in the field of psychology. While completing his bachelor degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of York, he researched the role of nutrition in mental health and illness. He became a student of the late Dr Carl Pfeiffer, director of Princeton’s Brain Bio Center, and later a student of Dr Abram Hoffer, Director of the International Schizophrenia Foundation in Canada, who were leading the field in mental health and nutrition. In 1980 he started treating mental health patients with nutritional medicine.

In 1984 Patrick founded the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), a charitable and independent educational trust for the furtherance of education and research in nutrition. Today, ION is the largest training school in the UK offering a diploma course in nutritional therapy and is widely respected as a leading edge organisation by professionals and media alike. Patrick formed a relationship with the late Dr Linus Pauling, who became the Patron of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition.

“If you get nutrition right for the brain it’s right for the body.” says Patrick Holford, founder of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and the Food for the Brain Foundation.

There is no need to have declining energy, memory, motivation and mood. In this one-day workshop held in partnership with Food for the Brain, you’ll learn everything he’s learnt in 35 years exploring optimum nutrition for mental health. This includes how to:

  • Increase your and your child’s IQ and improve concentration
  • Boost your memory and make yourself Alzheimer’s proof
  • Enhance your mood, emotional stability and banish mood swings
  • Beat anxiety, stress and sleeping problems
  • Balance hormones to relieve PMS, thyroid, menopause and andropause symptoms
  • Reverse learning difficulties, hyperactivity and ASD

The workshop, while focussed on nutrition, also includes simple lifestyle changes and exercises for optimising mental health and helping de-stress, stay centred and sleep well.

The last (optional) hour will also give time to explore schizophrenia, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, Autistic spectrum disorders and any other mental health concerns you may have for your family.

Patrick Holford is an international best-selling author of 36 books including the Feel Good Factor, the Stress Cure, the Alzheimer’s Prevention Plan and Optimum Nutrition for the Mind. He is director of London’s Brain Bio Centre, the outpatient clinic of the charitable Food for the Brain Foundation.
